Gregory J. Kuykendall

Biographical Summary

Greg Kuykendall, a Colorado native, is a Board Certified Specialist in Criminal Law, certified by the State Bar of Arizona’s Board of Legal Specialization. He is licensed in Arizona, Texas and Colorado, as well as in the U.S. Supreme Court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and a number of federal districts. He speaks fluent Spanish, passable Italian and even better than average English.

Greg graduated from Northwestern University Law School after receiving a Master’s in Latin American Studies from Tulane University and a Bachelor’s from the University of Colorado. He is Learned Counsel for federal death penalty purposes, a Life Member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and also is a member of NACDL’s Board of Directors, and previously served for many years on the first chair Capital Murder Panel in Pima County. The Committee on Appellate Court Appointments has interviewed him for a position on the Arizona Supreme Court. He is A-V rated by Martindale-Hubbell, listed in The Bar Registry of Preeminent Lawyers, has been a Southwest SuperLawyer for more than five years in a row and has been named one of Arizona’s Finest Lawyers.

He routinely speaks throughout the United States and Mexico on various criminal law topics and also serves as an expert witness. He has been legal counsel to the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs as the Director of the Mexican Capital Legal Assistance Program for the last five years.

Much of Greg’s work involves homicides, narcotics and governmental abuses. He has tried and litigated to favorable conclusions hundreds of serious felony cases and capital murders and currently works predominantly on death penalty trials, appeals and habeas corpus. He supervises a team of lawyers at his firm defending many different types of criminal allegations.
